Amazon Buyers BEWARE!!

If you’re looking to buy a high priced item from Amazon… you might want to look somewhere else. Recently, I purchased a GTX 1080 from Amazon, and I noticed a host of fraudulent scam artists posting massively lower prices for these types of GPUs. It was a nuisance, but I avoided them and got a good price from a reputable dealer. A few month’s later, however, I was looking into the purchase of a laptop and noticed that almost *ALL* of the prices I saw when looking items up were from fraudulent sellers. What’s worse, is that I even went to a valid store front of an Amazon reseller, and noticed that all of their listing prices were messed up because of these fraudulent sellers.

What this means, is that if you’re looking to buy an item, then at best, searching by price is completely worthless, and at worst, you’re going to trust a scammy looking person and get, well, scammed.

Of course I looked for a valid way to report these, because surely Amazon must care about this issue, but there was none. In fact, I had to login to my account, go to Help, go through a few drop downs of “other issue not related to ___” to finally open a chat so that I could even talk to someone about the issue. The results were not exactly reassuring.

I’ve included the chat below, and will include some screen grabs to show what I’m talking about, but for the sake of tl;dr “wow, this is a shock to us!” and “we really can’t do anything about it.”

**NOTE**
Within the time it took me to type and edit this post and grab screenshots, not only were the sellers that I mentioned taken down (they’d been up all day long), but new and LOWER priced scam listings were put up as new and used offers (previously, they were mostly “new” listings with very few being “used”). Maybe this shows that they did take me seriously, but daaaaannng, Amazon! You guys have some work to do! And buyers, this means you have even more work to do in order to avoid being scammed.

Transcript:

Me (opening statement): There are many fraudulent storefronts in the computer section which drastically affects pricing, and therefore purchase choices.
You are now connected to James from Amazon.com

Me: Hi there, you have multiple storefronts in the computing section w/a massively lower price, 0 feedback, and they’re clearly scammers. Can you guys do something to get those out of the listings?? By having them in the listings, the prices for products are completely worthless, because these lower prices are showing instead of actual prices for those products

It also misrepresents the valid company that these prices hide under

James: Hello, my name is James. I’m here to help you today. Oh I see… I’m not sure to be honest this is the first time I’ve heard of that. Do you have an example I could check out?

Me: absolutely

I have two different ways at arriving at an entire list of invalid prices.

Here’s one search I did for a specific criteria of computers: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p_89_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A13896617011%2Cn%3A565108%2Cn%3A13896615011%2Ck%3AMSI+i7%2Cp_n_size_browse-bin%3A7817234011%2Cp_89%3AMSI&sort=price-asc-rank&keywords=MSI+i7&ie=UTF8&qid=1482015004&rnid=2528832011

All of those prices are wildly off

ignore the barebone one that comes up as a first result, and take a look at the MSI GP72 Leopard Pro for $560.56

Click on the $560.56 new (1 offer) part

And you’ll be taken to only ONE “seller” called rob walsh

his description is “NEVER USED~Beforë you buy, cöntact më~NEU.|Shipping 3-4 business days|FREE SHIPPING| ”

This is common in all of the scam storefronts. 0 sales history, and you’ll see things like, “NEVER USED” or “100% positive”, then you see “before purchasing contact.. ” and they’ll circumvent your filters to put up their email address

Actually, here’s one that has two different fraud store fronts to show you what a typical listing for conditions is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01ATSJBNE/ref=sr_1_6_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482012705&sr=1-6&keywords=MSI+i7&condition=new

I know these are fraudulent prices, and I’ll show you how i know here in a sec

do you follow everything that I’ve been saying so far?

James: I see what you mean. Almost all of them are sold by Rob and Douglas J. Elliot. Yeah, you should never contact any third party seller outside of Amazon either. That’s a good call, you’re definitely a smart man. Yeah those are the links I was just looking at. I do. Every one of the links for this computer is by those 2 people, both brand new sellers. It’s definitely suspicious.

Me: exactly

so, that’s just an average user looking for something

every single “price” on the first page is a fraudulent price, so their search is worthless

But here’s something that’s far more nefarious

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_price-asc-rank?srs=8064300011&fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Cn%3A!493964%2Cn%3A541966%2Cn%3A13896617011%2Cn%3A565108%2Cn%3A13896615011%2Cp_n_size_browse-bin%3A7817234011&qid=1482009956&bbn=13896615011&sort=price-asc-rank

That is XOTIC PC’s store front

go ahead and click on the price of the first product that pops up.

Here, you can see a VALID listing from XOTIC, and our friend, Mr. Walsh

notice the massive price difference

James: Ah I see. You’re absolutely right. Great catch! Give me just a moment here this is the first time I’ve ran into something like this let me see what I can do.

Me: so here’s the thing

every single one of those prices on your valid reseller’s store front is wrong

so an average person’s search is completely worthless due to these scam artists

and then a valid reseller of yours (and I’m assuming they pay you to be a store front) also has their entire stock rendered worthless

James: Alright, so I checked with my lead, and he does have a point. We can’t speculate or assume anything. I totally understand it looks suspicious, I even thought the same thing at first, but we don’t know who these guys are. They may be part of a bigger company or store that has the stock to lower the prices that much. Or, you may be absolutely right, but until we have some sort of proof of foul play there isn’t anything that we can do.

Me: So you’re saying you’re fine with scam artists rendering your website worthless, and most likely causing someone who doesn’t know prices to be scammed, which is a headache for them and you

and they’re clearly circumventing your policy of putting contact information in the “condition” of the item… but that’s ok too?

James: If they are scamming anyone, we will catch them. We don’t throw someone in prison for looking scary, we still need proof. I’ve reported them for that already, but I’m not in the department that reviews those reports so I don’t know what the next steps there are.

Me: But they *are* currently circumventing your policies by putting contact information in the “condition” of a product.

forget the fact that you don’t care if a customer can accurately use [your] site, or all of the headache they will have to go through if they get duped by these guys.. they’re currently breaking your policies, and that doesn’t matter either?

James: As I said, I’ve reported them for that. My job is retail. I don’t deal with sellers, that is a different department.

Me: or.. if the situation is like your boss said, and they *do* have the item listed somewhere, then they’re taking sales directly away from you as well

James: Again, that is not my department. I’m sorry, but I can not provide any additional action or insight on this matter. Is there anything else I can help you with today sir?

Me: And I’m glad you reported them, but you should at least have some option available so that people who actually care about your site for you can do your work of finding fraudulent sellers.

Screen Grabs:

As I said in the note above, these are actually DIFFERENT than when I talked to the guy, because they took care of the one guy I mentioned (but not the other that was on the same item…) but more sprung up in his place just in the half an hour it took for me to get this info put together. I do have a cached version of the XOTIC PC store front though.

Here’s the generic search for MSI laptops meeting a criteria (changed from the original in the text). All of the prices you see here are fraudulent.
msi_generic

Here’s the specific listing I mentioned in chat. Note that Rob. Walsh. is missing from this specific listing, but Douglas J. Elliott was there when the agent saw this, and XTVONLINE was added. Also note that Rob. Walsh. is still a “valid” storefront, and I verified that even after talking to the agent, he was on many other listings that I previously spied him on before talking to the agent.
msi_listing

Here are the two screenshots of XOTIC PC’s store front. The first is the cached version from when I was talking to the agent, the second is the exact same URL, just 30 minutes later. Every single price you see here is fraudulent.
xotic-01xotic-02

Here’s one of the listings from XOTIC PC that shows the actual price of the item and the stark contrast of the fraudulent price. Notice that Rob. Walsh. is on here. This screen grab was taken after talking to the agent.

A Sound Response to Anyone Voting for Donald Trump Because he’s a “Good Businessman”

Donald Trump is a flaming pile of poo to begin with, and there are a number of malodorous qualities that people have to somehow have to swallow BEFORE they get to the argument of, “well he’s a good businessman and we need someone who can get us better deals!!”  These attributes include (but are not limited to):

But you’re willing to ignore all of these assaults of ethics and logic because he’s such a great “businessman?”  Well, if you think he’s a great businessman, either you’re ignorant to the facts, or you don’t understand business yourself.  Furthermore, if you own a business, and the later is true, that’s rather troubling for you.

Let’s go over why he’s such a monumental failure at business.

First of all, the vast majority of his upstart was given to him by his daddy.  Not just the $1m loan, but a $7m bailout after one of his fuckups.  Then, another $3.3m was illegally laundered to his casino (from daddy, of course: http://www.nytimes.com/1991/01/22/business/trump-aided-by-a-loan.html ) after another of his fuckups.  Anywhere from $20m-$80m after his dad passed away.  Other sources cite other “gimmes” that put the amount of money he was handed at well over $200m, but I haven’t vetted those claims, so we won’t even count those.

Now, you say, “well see?? He was only given MAAAAYBE $100m!”  Yeah… that’s kind of a lot, especially considering it was the 80s/90s, and would be worth well over a quarter of a billion today.  But beyond that, he also simply refused to pay people, and that translated into equity, because it was work/service/materials that he received, but didn’t pay for.  Some of this was in pure refusal to pay, some of this was in bogus junk bonds that never came to fruition.  This is part of the reason that no one will do business with him or allow him to build anything.  They know he’s not good for his money ( http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/06/09/donald-trump-unpaid-bills-republican-president-laswuits/85297274/ ).  Furthermore, a lot of what he bought was on credit, because his daddy got him much higher lines of credit, even after he kept pissing his money away.

Second, we get to all the failures.  Yes, it’s true, he “only had” 6 bankruptcies! (but much like claiming $100m in the mid 80s isn’t a lot of money, claiming 6 bankruptcies isn’t a horrible business record is also insane).  But that doesn’t cover how many of his businesses just plain collapsed.  John Oliver did an exposé on him a while ago, where he pointed out several of his most expensive failures.  Since then, dozens of news organizations have put together even bigger lists of his failures.  Simply put “how many businesses has donald trump lost” in google, and you’ll have 50million+ search results.

Shortly after the John Oliver episode, Mitt Romney parroted these facts, and Trump felt compelled to defend himself.  He held a “press conference” that was really more of an infomercial, showing that all of the businesses that John Oliver/Romney claimed went out of business were still alive and thriving.  In this example, we get to see how he thinks his supporters are clueless idiots, because multiple reporters were able to show that all of the businesses he claimed were still alive were absolute lies.  Here’s a nicely compiled list to show you just how stupid Donald Trump thinks you are: http://mashable.com/2016/03/09/donald-trump-infomercial/

Now, because of this, as I said before, no one works with him to build anything new.  I’ve heard you try to defend his business record by saying he has founded 500+ businesses.  Again, if you read through the reports of his failures, they point out that most of these businesses are just licensing deals or golf courses.  While he has his name on quite a few buildings, the amount he actually *owns* are far less, and most of those are struggling… because he’s a terrible businessman ( http://www.forbes.com/sites/steveolenski/2015/11/24/donald-trumps-real-secret-to-riches-create-a-brand-and-license-it/ )!

Third, let’s talk about how “smart” he is for fucking over fellow tax payers and finding away to skip out on taxes.  First of all, despite how many times Rudy Giuliani and Chris Christie call Trump a “genius” for figuring this out… he didn’t figure it out… his daddy’s tax attorney did.  They’ve since found this fellow, asked him about Trump, and he said that, while Trump’s dad was an astute businessman, Trump himself “didn’t understand the code …  Nor would he have had the time and the patience to learn the provisions.” and he had, “no involvement in the preparation” ( http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/trump-tax-attorney-he-didn-t-understand-code-n660111 ).  So basically, if daddy hadn’t set him up with a “genius” tax attorney, Trump would have taken his near $1 BILLION dollar loss much harder, and we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

And let’s talk about that $1b loss.  First of all, IT’S A $1 BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!  Kind of like being given $100m, and having 6 bankruptcies on your record, if you don’t think that’s a big deal, you SERIOUSLY fall into the category of “don’t know wtf you’re talking about” when it comes to business!  But let’s look a little further into it.  By now, we’ve already gone over the fact that his tax attorney used this in his favor to allow him to avoid paying taxes on $1b in profit from businesses (not from personal income) for up to 18 years.  Now, if he’s such an awesome businessman, and he’s worth $10b as he claims, then certainly he would have made this back in no time, right??

Well, there’s a lot of speculation that he hasn’t… because he’s not showing us his tax returns.  One of the major reasons he may be holding it back is because he doesn’t want us to see that he’s STILL using the tax loophole (as of a few years ago), because he’s NOT actually worth that much (not to mention, he doesn’t give anywhere close to the amount he claims to charity, which would also show up: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-promised-millions-to-charity-we-found-less-than-10000-over-7-years/2016/06/28/cbab5d1a-37dd-11e6-8f7c-d4c723a2becb_story.html ).

This brings us to the final point of why Donald Trump is garbage as a businessman.  His net worth, or lack thereof.  One common thing he does, as when he talks about his golf courses, is value his properties much higher when he’s trying to show off to people, and much lower when he’s claiming them on taxes ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/how-much-does-trump-claim-his-golf-courses-are-worth-it-depends-who-needs-to-know/2016/08/21/71828f3a-5f3c-11e6-9d2f-b1a3564181a1_story.html ).  This isn’t a huge deal, because I’m sure it’s not the only thing he exaggerates about… but it goes towards showing how his actual net worth isn’t anywhere close to what he says it is.

One other thing that he does when talking about his NET worth is to fail to bring into scope his debts ( http://fortune.com/2016/03/23/donald-trump-debt/ ).  This goes back to whether or not you, as a potential supporter of Trump, know anything about business.  Do you know what “net” means when talking about value?  It means profit + loss; assets + debts.  You don’t get to ignore the negative column when talking about your net worth.  Trust me, I’d love to ignore the tax part of my paycheck and receive the gross sum instead, but that’s not how reality works.

A final note on his net worth… examine his actions, and that will show you what he’s worth.  He’s nickle and diming people with Trump university.  He’s fudging the cost of his campaign headquarters in Trump tower so that, when he’s paying for it, it’s low, but when the RNC via donations from his supporters pay for it, it’s all of a sudden 5 times as much (yet another example showing how he assumes his supporters to be idiots http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/23/politics/trump-tower-rent/ ).  He’s currently trying to position “Trump TV” as a thing so that, after he fails at the election, he will be able to use his new fame for profit.

These are not the actions of a billionaire.  These are the actions of someone who CLAIMS to be a billionaire, but in reality is on a knife’s edge of debt and poor management to be worth nothing at all.

He doesn’t give a shit about America or it’s people, he’s just using this election as his most elaborate scam, because that’s all he knows.  His entire life is based on fraud, and the American people are his next mark.

Difference Between Alcohol with Wii vs Alcohol without Wii

So I’m sure you’ve seen all those pictures on www.wiihaveaproblem.com that depict people getting hurt while they’re drinking and playing with their wii (along with people who are just plain stupid and don’t understand that you can’t wave your arms around where you don’t have room to and not hit something). You might notice a strong similarity to these pictures and pictures on places like www.break.com, www.ebaumsworld.com and the like. What’s the difference between stupidity with a Wii in your hand and just plain stupidity?

Money.

You can’t sue yourself because you were stupid and punched through your own wall while you were drunk/mad/emo. You can’t sue yourself because you were stupid enough to shatter your cellphone by throwing it across the room (again while drunk/mad/emo). However, it’s only a matter of time before people start suing the company of an instrument they were holding onto WHILE being drunk/mad/emo and and punching through walls (or TV) and other such nonsense.

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for alcohol-related Wii lawsuits, because at the rate that people are blaming their wiimote for wrecking their homes/tvs/body parts, it’s only a matter of time before some dumbass thinks they are entitled to a share of Nintendo’s profits, because they were holding onto a Nintendo product while committing acts that should have them shot in the name of natural selection.

The internet is creating a legion of idiots that sympathize with each other about improperly using a piece of plastic and destroying expensive objects. All I ask is that you do your part in the name of humanity and evolution to try to explain to them what a dumbass they actually are.

Another Glorious Day Without an Injury!

jesus

FORSOOTH, dear brothers for I have passed another night while engaging in certain flailing movements with my wii through a drunken haze and nothing was broken or injured!! Truly this must be an act of God to make it through a whole night without hurting myself or somthing else with a plastic remote.

Or perhaps it *just* might be that I’m not a dumbass. I dunno. Could go either way, really

Had the drinking crew over again, and played plenty of games. No one got hurt. It’s a miracle, really. Fuck Jesus healing the blind; 4 drunk people played with their wii in a small location and no one got hurt!! Well, I suppose you could count the hangover as a product of playing with the wii and dehydrating yourself, thereby creating, or further increasing the effects of a hangover.  Then again, if I thought that were truly the case, I’d be posting some sorry ass sob story on WHaP instead of making this site.

Also, I’d like to take this time to invite people to share their own miracles and positive experiences with their wii. Though the chances are wiimote (hah), I’m sure someone else out there survived the night w/out injury!

If you actually manage to throw a wiimote through… ANYTHING…

Then you forgot one very important piece of equipment.

Your efftard helmet:

Welcome to wiihaveadumbass.com. This site is, of course, a parody on www.wiihaveaproblem.com, which happens to be a site that is a safehaven for everyone stupid enough to actually damage something with a remote control. Here at WHaD, we strive to keep stupidity at an all time low, and celebrate common sense and good judgement. If you have a problem with people using any excuse possible to bitch about something that is completely their fault, this is the site for you.

More formatting/updating/etc to come later, but I just had to get this up ASAP.
